An October 9th fire has temporarily closed the William Penn Inn in Lower Gwynedd, a business that dates back to 1714. According to Al Comly, the fire marshal of Lower Gwynedd Townhip, the fire started in the basemant kitchen and spread through the ductwork to the roof. Comly offered that the fire didn’t was mainly contained to the duct work, which limited the amount of damage. No injuries were reported.
In a message to the public, the owners of the William Penn Inn, the Freidrich family, stated that they are reaching out to everyone who had reservations, events, or other services planned and asked for patience as they do not yet know when they will be able to reopen.
Comly also stated that the township is prepared to work with the William Penn Inn to complete any needed inspection and support efforts to reopen as quickly as possible.
