New restaurant from the owners of The Blue Bell Inn and Copper Crow coming to Bridgeport

Taphouse 23 in Bridgeport announced on May 12th that it had closed permanently. Today, EatDrinkMontco.com confirmed that the ownership group behind The Blue Bell Inn in Blue Bell and the Copper Crow in Horsham is opening a new restaurant in the former home of Taphouse 23.

The owner of the two restaurants, Scott Dougherty, shared, “The Blue Bell / Copper Crow team is indeed opening a new restaurant in the Taphouse 23 location and hoping to be open in early fall. More details and specifics will be out mid-summer.”

Doughtery and partners reopened The Blue Bell Inn in 2014, renovating and revitalizing the restaurant, which has been in operation since 1743. The Copper Crow opened in 2022.

Taphouse 23 was opened by Gary Johnson in 2014, replacing an establishment named The Point. Johnson acquired the property in 2010 and renovated the space to be more upscale to follow the redevelopment planned for the borough. In 2015, Johnson also purchased Chick’s Tavern, a nearby restaurant, to demolish for a parking lot to serve Taphouse 23. Johnson, who owned Tube Methods, a major manufacturing business in Bridgeport, passed away in 2021.

More to come.
