Taphouse 23 in Bridgeport has closed

Taphouse 23 in Bridgeport announced on May 12th that it has closed permanently. In the announcement, it did not state a reason and thanked its customers.

The restaurant was opened by Gary Johnson in 2014, replacing an establishment named The Point. Johnson acquired the property in 2010 and renovated the space to be more upscale to follow the redevelopment planned for the borough. In 2015, Johnson also purchased Chick’s Tavern, a nearby restaurant, to demolish for a parking lot to serve Taphouse 23.

Johnson, who owned Tube Methods, a major manufacturing business in Bridgeport, passed away in 2021.
